Omar is the Chairman of the MBA Games Organizing Committee and is the Founder and Past President of the Vancouver Island University’s MBA Society and the BC MBA Games. He led Vancouver Island University as Team Captain for the National MBA Games in 2015 and 2016. With 10 years of leadership and management experience in working in non-profit, profit and external organizations, Omar aims to focus on creating sustainable leadership models that can establish progressive development within organizations. Omar has his BA in Communications and Political Science from Simon Fraser University. He worked at TD Bank for 5 years in Retail Banking, in the Corporate HR, Corporate CEI Sales and Service Department. He has worked as an analyst in Business Advisory at Grant Thornton in Corporate Bankruptcy and Insolvency and Corporate Valuations. Recruited by the Canucks Autism Network, Omar consulted and worked to create the program of Young Enthusiastic Students Working Eagerly for the Canucks Autism Network (YES WE CAN).
Omar is a TD National Scholar for Youth Leadership and Community Service. He is also a National Millennium Scholar for Youth Leadership and Community Service. Omar is an I-STAR National Recipient and has received I-STAR Awards for Arts and Culture, Youth Leadership and Community Service over consecutive years. Omar is a recipient of the TD Champions Award, the MVP at Canada’s Next Impact Apprentice Business Competition and was the recent VIU Faculty of Management Valedictorian 2016. Omar looks forward to continuing doing work that inspires others to fulfill their passions and that enables organizations to create social good amongst their communities.
